The other day I had a chance to hit up Mellow Mushroom Avondale. I have been to the Mellow locations in Mt. Pleasant and downtown Charleston, but hadn't yet checked out the Avondale location. I am a definitely a big fan of Mellow Mushroom! The pizza is tasty and beer selection always good. This Mellow Mushroom certainly did not disappoint. Once I walked in, I was blown away by how cool the interior is. The building used to be a single screen movie theater, and although the big movie screen is no longer there, they certainly have a ridiculously huge TV above an open kitchen for all patrons to enjoy the big game. As for the bar, it's U shaped with about 20 stools and plenty of tv's with a variety of sports/games being shown.
With 30 beers on draft, they have the most taps of all our local Mellow Mushroom restaurants. On this day they had 2 draft beer menus. One had their regular offerings, and the other was a rotating seasonal menu. Definitely a good selection for sure, though I wish there were a few more local options.
For all you happy hour lovers, they do have a happy hour from 4-7pm and specials include $2 Wells, $2 Beer of the Month, and $4 on ALL Drafts, Wine and Shooters.
