Tradesmen Brewing Set to Open Saturday-Check Out Our Post From A Few Weeks Back

Tradesman Brewing is Coming!

The craft beer craze is slowly creeping its way onto James Island! In the past year, we’ve seen a craft beer bar open (Bohemian Bull) and another one on the way (The Barrel). This has left some wondering, when will JI get an equally badass brewery taboot?

Octobachi Asian Gastropub Review

The wifey and I hit up Octobachi Asian Gastropub this past weekend.  It has been on my list for awhile to go and check out.  Since we were in the area, we popped in for some dinner and beers.  Since we had the little guy with us, we only had one each, but they were both damn good.

Edmund's Oast Review

I can’t say I’ve had such excitement building for a new restaurant in Charleston in well, never. Places come and go here, and I don’t typically become an emotional wreck fretting over such a blaise affair. However, when the titans of Charleston beer have been working on a place for almost (according to Rich-a year and half) one must marvel at the sorts of items they’ll offer.

There has been an inordinate amount of positive press and tons of glowing reviews coming from the soft opening that occurred the few days before Valentines Day. We pulled up to the ever-burgeoning North Morrison (No’Mo I’m told) area. We found a large parking lot, adjacent to the joint. Very easy in and out.

Post Brewvival Top 10 and Pics!

This 2014 Charleston Brewvival was the best yet in my opinion.  Cheers to Coast Brewing and the guys from Charleston Beer Exchange for putting together a kick @$$ event at a time when they are busier than ever with the recent opening of Edmund's Oast and Coast's expansion.  Less than 365 days until Brewvival 2015.  Let the countdown begin.  Prior to Brewvival we posted our Brewvival top 10 beers we were most interested in sampling.  After sampling them all and many others, these are the top 10 we enjoyed the most!

A Review in Honor of a Few Bozos Opening a Restaurant

A Review in Honor of a Few Bozos Opening a Restaurant

We’ve been sitting on a few beer reviews for a while now, and, in honor of Edmund’s Oast opening this Friday, we thought we’d break the fast with a review of Evil Twin’s Bozo Beer.  Bozo Beer is a collaboration or at least was inspired by Rich and Scott of The Charleston Beer Exchange/Edmund’s Oast.  In addition, it was brewed at our very own Westbrook Brewing Company. It’s a big @$$ Imperial Stout clocking in at 17.2% ABV.  The label is Jeppe's classic triangular pixelated dude(s)-involved-in-the-brewing-process (and guess who this one features?). The myriad of ingredients/characteristics mentioned on the label is enough to send a chill through a Cicerone’s spine. They include molasses, lactose, chocolate, almond, hazelnut, vanilla bean, cinnamon, oak spiral, chili, marshmallow, muscovado sugar, chestnut, and coffee.

Freehouse Brewery Review

Last Wednesday, the Low Country Libations homebrew club held our monthly meeting at Freehouse Brewery in North Charleston.  Freehouse is owned by Arthur Lucas, who was manning the tasting room on this particular evening.  The location is real nice, as it is located on banks of the Ashley River.  There is a nice deck for enjoying some beers and checking out the view of the river.
