February 29th-Craft Beer Events Calendar!!!

Craft Beer Events 

Holy City Brewing: Monday and Tuesday 4pm-6pm and Wednesday-Friday 4pm-7pm.
Coast Brewing: Thursday from 4pm-7pm and Saturday from 11am-2pm.
Westbrook Brewing: Thursday and Friday from 4pm-7pm and Saturday from 12pm-4pm.
Total Wine & More: Every Thursday from 3pm-7pm.  Sample up to eight craft beers for free.

March 1st
Join Bottles in Mt. Pleasant for their weekly Tap Takeover, featuring Palmetto Brewing Company.  Chris Winn from Palmetto will be on site to educate.  The beers will be: Palmetto Amber, Lager, Pale Ale, Aftershock, Espresso Porter, and their new Ginger Slap.  Event is from 4:30-7:30pm.  

March 1st
The Charleston Beer Exchange will host a Meet and Greet with Ben Dobler and Chris Squire from Widmer Brewing.  Event is from 5pm-7pm.  They will have three special beers on the growler station: 2011 Barrel Aged Brrrbon, Lemongrass Wheat, and Spiced IPA.  All three will be available for free tastes as well as 32 oz. growler fills.  With every 32 oz. growler fill, you'll receive a free Widmer glass.  Spiced IPA will also be available in 64 oz fills.  Get it while it lasts!

March 3rd
Ted's Butcherblock is throwing "TedFiesta" a fun outdoor event.  $12 will get you all you can eat from the Carnitas Taco Bar, along with tamales and sides.  Craft Beer pints will be available for $4 and "crap or craft" mystery beers for $3.  Live music from the Bushels.  Event is from 12-5pm. 

March 3rd
As part of the Charleston Wine and Food Festival, Closed For Business will host a five course beer dinner for $125 per person.  Featured brews will be from Victory Brewing Company.  Click here to purchase.

As part of the Charleston Wine and Food Festival, The Next Door Bistro in Mt. Pleasant will host a "Legends Craft Beer Dinner."  This is a five course beer dinner and cost is $125 per person.  Each of the five courses will be prepared by local legends; Robert Carter, Donald Barickman, and Brett McKee and food will be paired with beer from New Belgium Brewing Company.  Click here to purchase tickets. 

March 12th
17 North will host Palmetto Brewing Company for a 5 Course Beer Dinner.  Cost is $60 per person.  Call (843) 606-2144 for reservations.  See menu below:

Reception: Pickled Green Tomatoes, Shrimp, Eggs and Pigs Feet, Bacon Corn Bread vs. Aftershock

I: "Shrimp N Grits" - Blue crab- and Gechee Boy Grit-Stuffed Local Shrimp, Tasso Bacon, Tomato Beer Foam vs. Charleston Lager

II: "Fried Chicken" - Milgrove Farms Chicken and Mepkin Abbey Oyster Mushroom Purloo, Fried Chicken Skin, Roasted Chicken Consommé vs. Pale Ale

III: "Pork and Collards" - Smoked Pork Shoulder, Braised Pork Belly, Collard Roulade, Mac and Cheese Powder vs. Amber

IV: Not Traditional Pecan Pie vs. Expresso Porter

March 22nd
Total Wine & More will host a beer class called "Introduction to Beer: Get Your Suds On."  Enjoy an enlightening taste of what beer is really all about in this session focusing on: 1) The difference between Lager and Ale, 2) The four core ingredients in beer, 3) The meaning of “malty”, “hoppy”, “balanced”, and other beer descriptor words, 4) The most popular beer styles and their appearance, aroma, taste, and mouthfeel. Come away knowing what beer styles you like, why you like them, and how to ask for them when in the store and out on the town.  Class will be from 6:30-8:30pm.  Cost is $10 per person.  Seating is limited.  Call (843) 763-7034 to register.

March 29th
Total Wine & More will host a "Locals Only" Beer Class, featuring local author and beer writer Timmons Pettigrew.  Pettigrew will lead a tasting of 8 local beers.  Call (843) 763-7034 to reserve your spot.  Event starts at 6:30pm and price is $10!

April 1st
17 North Roadside Kitchen will host the 1st Annual Local Lowcountry Beer Festival.  Event will be from 1-8pm.  "This is a festival for the local Breweries of the Lowcountry of South Carolina to show off their beers and exchange knowledge with the local homebrewers in the area. All while having some great food and listening to some solid local bands. Holy City, Palmetto, and Westbrook breweries will be in attendance as well as the local homebrewers group. It is an all age event so kids are more than welcome to attend with their parents and enjoy the day."  No word on price yet.  Stay tuned.

April 19th
Total Wine & More will host a beer class called "Great Breweries: Great Beers."  A journey spotlighting some great beers and the breweries that brew them. Several breweries will be featured and discussed along with a tasting of multiple beers from each of their portfolios. Learn more about the breweries and the character of the beers they produce.  Class will be from 6:30-8:30pm.  Cost is $10 per person.  Seating is limited.  Call (843) 763-7034 to register.
