May 10th- Craft Beer Events Calendar!



Craft Beer Events 

Tastings:
Holy City Brewing: Monday and Tuesday 4pm-6pm, Wednesday-Friday 4pm-7pm, and Saturday from 12-4pm.  
Coast Brewing: Thursday from 4pm-7pm and Saturday from 11am-2pm.
Westbrook Brewing: Thursday and Friday from 4pm-7pm and Saturday from 12pm-4pm.
Total Wine & More: Every Thursday from 3pm-7pm.  Sample up to eight craft beers for free.


May 10th
Bottles will host Scott Sheridan from Stone Brewing for a Stone Brewing Tap Takeover from 4:30-7:30pm, featuring four of their hop driven beers.  For sampling and growler fills will be the IPA, Ruination IPA, Arrogant Bastard Ale, and the Cali-Belgique IPA.  

May 11th
Holy City Brewing's Carnival Night.  Head out to the brewery from 4-8pm and Sweeteeth Chocolates will be there for a Beer and Chocolate pairing.  The King of Pops will have delicious popsicles for sale and Hello My Name is BBQ will have their food truck on premises.  The Bluestone Ramblers will be playing the tunes.  

May 15th
17 North in Mt. Pleasant will have a Victory vs. Victory Beer Dinner.  Chef Brannon Florie from 17 North will be there for this 6 course and 12 Beer Dinner.  Call (843) 606-2144 for tickets.  Price is $65 a person and it starts at 7pm.  Check out the menu, which is still a work in progress:

Reception: Rillettes, Head Cheese, Liver Pâté vs. Beers TBD

1st Course: Confit Pork Shoulder, Corned Pork Hash, Sweet Peppers, Poached Farm Egg vs. Victory Lager (4.8% ABV, 82, 42) and Prima Pils (5.3% ABV, 91, 96)

2nd Course: Pork Schnitzel, Cured Ham, Arugula, Smoked Provolone Mornay Sauce vs. Whirlwind Witbier (5% ABV, 84, 84) and Helios Ale (7.5% ABV, 86, 95)

3rd Course: Sous Vide Belly, Cheek Ravioli , Summer Squash and Black Truffles vs. Hop Wallop (8.5% ABV, 91, 97) and HopDevil (6.7% ABV, 91, 99)

4th Course: Bacon-Wrapped Apricot Sausage, Stuffed Pork Loin, Braised Apples and Cabbage vs. V-Twelve (12% ABV, 90, 98) and Moonglow Weizenbock (8.7% ABV, 90, 97)

5th Course: Food TBD vs. Storm King (9.1% ABV, 93, 100) and Otto (8.1% ABV, 83, 78)

May 16th
Palmetto Brewing will host an Open House starting at 6pm and the price is $10.  You will get a Palmetto Brewing pint glass, tastings of their current selections, a tour of the brewery, and a tour of their neighbor Charleston Coffee Roasters.  Live music by Charles David and Zach Bodtork and Hello My Name is BBQ will be on site if you get hungry.  

May 16th
Closed For Business will have a Victory Saison du Buff Release and Pint Night.  Cameron from Victory Brewing will be there to release the Victory, Stone, and Dogfish Head Collaboration Saison du Buff!  With those 3 breweries, it must be damn good!  They will also be pouring Donnybrook Stout, Hop Devil IPA, Prima Pils, Summer Love, Headwaters Pale Ale, and Storm King Stout.  Select beers will be discounted for the night as well.


May 17th
House of Brews will host Carolina Brewery for a Pint Night from 5:30-7:30pm.  They will have their Sky Blue Golden Ale and Flagship IPA on tap, and also will have some pint glass giveaways.  The brewer will be present as well.

May 18th
Closed for Business will host Grant from New Belgium for a New Belgium Flight & Pint Night to celebrate the Lips of Faith Tart Lychee release.  They will be pouring Tart Lychee ($4 for 12 oz.), Tripel, Beire de Mars, Somersault, Ranger ($4 pints), Belgo IPA ($4 pints).  Flights are $10.  Starts at 6pm.

May 22nd
My favorite burger and beer joint, The Coleman Public House will celebrate it's 2 year anniversary by having a Customer Appreciation event.  From 6-9pm, all drafts and appetizers will be half off.  Live music will kick off at 7pm. 

May 22nd
Closed For Business and Holy City Brewing will team up for a 5 Course Beer Dinner that starts at 6pm.  The food menu is TBA but the beers are: Holy City Pilsner, Pluff Mud Porter, Earthworm, Washout Wheat, and Black Dog's Bite.  The Black Dog's Bite was a collaboration beer brewed by the guys from Holy City Brewing and the Lucas Brothers from Closed For Business.  Stop by or call Closed For Business for your ticket.  Tickets are $40 a person and seating is limited.  These will go fast!

May 22nd
Five Loaves Cafe will be hosting a New Belgium Beer Dinner starting at 6:30pm.  The cost is $30 and will include 4 beers/4 courses.  Call (843) 805-7977 for tickets.  Here's the menu:

I: Pan-seared scallops served over a pesto corn relish with a Shift butter sauce vs. Shift Pale Lager 
II: Salmon ceviche with chipotle creme fraiche and an avocado-cilantro vinaigrette vs. Ranger IPA 
III: Smoked chicken thigh with mexican rice and a Fat Tire mole sauce vs. Fat Tire 
IV: Chocolate custard with caramelized bananas vs. Abbey 


May 23rd
Laura Alberts will have Brooklyn Brewery in the house for a special "growler hour," starting at 5pm.  Chef Matt Brigham will be preparing four tasty appetizers to pair with a flight of four 4 ounce Brooklyn beers.  Live music from Rustic Remedy as well. 

May 26th
Oak Barrel Tavern will host a Homebrew Contest.  There will be 3 categories: Ale, Porter-Stout, and Other.  Stay tuned for more information. 

May 30th,
Ted's Butcherblock will host Westbrook Brewing for their monthly cask event.  The featured cask beer will be Westbrook's Single Hop: Pacific Jade, dry hopped with Calypso.  Edward Westbrook and his lovely wife Morgan will be pouring the beer!  Beer will start pouring at 6pm! 

May 31st
The boys from the Charleston Beer Exchange and Bacco Italian Restaurant will team up for their second Rare Italian Beer Dinner.  Event will start at 6pm.  More details to come. 

June 2nd
Beer City Festival will be held in Asheville from 12-6pm.  25+ breweries will be there showcasing their tasty beers!  Tickets are $40 each, but can only be bought at Asheville's local breweries, Bruisin' Ale's, and Barley's Taproom.  

June 23rd
The Charleston Beer Garden 2012 will take place from 1-8pm at Brittlebank Park in Charleston.  "Inspired by the festive biergartens of Germany, Brittlebank Park will be transformed into the largest pop-up beer garden Charleston has experienced. Featuring a great line-up of craft brews, tasty treats from Charleston’s food trucks, live music, beer school, and more, this festival won’t disappoint!" Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the door.  VIP Tickets are $50 in advance and include some sweet extras such as VIP Reserve Beer Tastings, VIP Grove Access, and VIP Parking.   DD tickets are $15 and need to be bought in advance.  Breweries will be Magic Hat, Leinenkugel's, Sweetwater, Holy City, Thomas Creek, Founders, Shipyard Brewing, RJ Rockers, Blue Moon, and Crispin (Hard Cider).
