Charleston Craft Beer Week Begins!

The first ever Charleston Craft Beer week begins Sunday April 22nd and will last until Sunday April 29th.  There is a ton of events going on this week, and to see them all click here.   Our only local brewery participating is Holy City Brewing, and I strongly suggest supporting them since they kick @$$!  Not sure why Coast, Westbrook and Palmetto aren't participating, but from what I have been able to gather they were not asked to.  That does not make me happy and doesn't make much sense, but they will still be open for their normal tastings.  Of all the events this coming week, here are the events that look most appealing to me.

1)  Bark For Your Brew- Dog friendly craft beer tasting that will take place from 2-5pm on Sunday April 22nd at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park before the Riverdogs game.  Price is $30 and includes ticket to the game. 30 breweries will be present and live music by Junkyard Angel.  Buy tickets here.

2) Cinebarre "Beer Wars" Documentary featuring Dogfish Head Rare Beer Flights.  Cinebarre will show the documentary "Beer Wars" on Monday April 23rd for free and will have Dogfish Head Flights available for $10.  Beers available for the flight will be Namaste, 75 Minute, 90 Minute, My Antonia, Midas Touch and Palo Santo.  Pick 4 of them for the $10 flight.  Event starts at 6pm and movie starts at 7:30pm. Get there early for a special rare beer sampling from the Dogfish Head rep who will be available to discuss the beers as well as Dogfish Head's role in the film.

3) The Battle of the Carolinas.  Starting at 8pm on Monday April 23rd, The Griffon will have our local Holy City Brewing guys facing off against North Carolina's Foothills Brewing in a unique taste-off.  Support local beer people!!!

4) Bottles will host Foothills Brewing for a Tap Takeover on Tuesday April 24th, from 5-7:30pm.  Beers available will be Torch Pilsner, Hoppyum IPA, Sexual Chocolate, People's Porter, and Irish Red Ale.

5) Charleston Beer Works will host Holy City Brewing, Thomas Creek and RJ Rockers for SC Brew Night on Tuesday April 24th from 9-12pm.

6) Red's Icehouse on Shem Creek will host Carolina Brewing for a Beer Pairing on Wednesday April 25th from 6-8pm.  Carolina Brewing will have their Strawberry Blonde, Carolina Blonde, and Endo IPA and they will be paired with some good ol' food from Red's.

7) The Coleman Public House will host Terrapin and Sweetwater for a 5 Course beer dinner on Wednesday April 25th, starting at 6:30pm.  Tickets are $35 and you can get them here.  See menu below:

Reception Beer: Hop Karma (Terrapin)

1st Course: Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli, Braised Cabbage, Porcini Cream with Georgia Brown (Sweetwater)
2nd Course: Tempura Soft Shell Crab with Cajun Succotash with Road Trip (Sweetwater)
3rd Course: Korean BBQ’d Beef Brisket, Fried Barley, Kimchi Slaw with Hopzilla (Terrapin)
4th Course: Moohoo Ice Cream Float with House-made Moon Pies with MooHoo Chocolate Stout (Terrapin)

8) Taps Brews in Summerville will have a Thomas Creek Brewing Night on Friday April 27th.  For $9.99 you get to sample 5 of Thomas Creek's brews and a pint of the one you like best.

Cheers!
